Privacy policy
TelPrompt is built so we don't need a long privacy policy — but here it is anyway, in plain English.
Short version. TelPrompt runs in its own browser window. It can't read the websites you visit. Your microphone audio is processed on your machine and never sent anywhere. Your scripts are stored only on your device. We collect what's necessary to bill you — nothing more.
What TelPrompt does on your device
The TelPrompt extension lives in its own browser window, separate from the pages you browse. It requests only one Chrome permission: storage — used to save your settings and script library locally.
- It does not request
activeTab,scripting, or any host permissions. - It does not declare any content scripts.
- It does not declare any web-accessible resources.
- It cannot read, modify, observe, or interact with any webpage.
Your microphone audio
When you use Voice Tracking, TelPrompt uses Chrome's on-device speech recognition (the Web Speech API's processLocally mode). Your audio is processed on your computer and is never transmitted to any server — not Google's, not ours, not anyone's.
If on-device recognition is not available for your selected language, TelPrompt tells you so and offers Fixed Pace mode (which never uses the microphone). It does not silently fall back to cloud recognition.
In Fixed Pace mode, the microphone is never accessed at all.
Your scripts
Scripts you write and save are stored in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on the device where they were saved. They are not uploaded, synced, or backed up by us. If you uninstall the extension, your scripts are removed with it.
What we collect on this website (telprompt.app)
When you visit telprompt.app or sign up for a subscription, we collect:
- Account email — used to give you access to the extension licence and to contact you about your subscription.
- Billing information — handled entirely by our payment processor (Stripe). We never see or store your card details.
- Basic web analytics — page views and approximate location (country-level), via privacy-respecting analytics. No cross-site tracking, no third-party cookies, no advertising IDs.
We do not collect your scripts, your audio, your transcripts, your recording activity, the websites you visit, or any other in-browser behaviour. We can't — the extension doesn't transmit any of that.
Cookies
This website uses a single first-party cookie to keep you logged into your account. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.
Data sharing
We share data with two service providers, only to provide the service:
- Stripe — payment processing. Their privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy.
- Our email provider — to send account and support emails.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data for advertising or marketing purposes. Ever.
Your rights
You can request a copy of any data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it entirely. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within 14 days. Deleting your account removes your account email and billing references from our systems.
Children
TelPrompt is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and notify subscribers by email. The current version is always at telprompt.app/privacy.
